Today, the Taíno Nation of Borikén joins in a moment of reflection and solidarity with the Eastern Woodlands tribes—the Wampanoag, Pequot, Narragansett, Nipmuc, Mohegan, Massachusett, and all Indigenous nations who experienced the impacts of European settlement.
The arrival of settlers marked the beginning of profound changes for these communities, leading to the loss of land, culture, and lives. As we acknowledge their Day of Mourning, we stand with them in silence, honoring their strength and resilience.
In this shared moment of remembrance, we reflect on the importance of preserving and respecting Indigenous cultures and histories. We are united by our collective experiences, and in recognizing one another’s struggles, we find solidarity and strength.
We stand with you, in this moment and always.
